Utilities Supervisor

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position oversees the installation of underground utilities, including water, sewer, storm drain, and related infrastructure. The Utilities Supervisor manages crews, ensures compliance with plans and specifications, and coordinates with project management, inspectors, and utility owners to deliver safe, high-quality utility installations.

Responsibilities:

Supervise utility crews performing underground utility installation.
Coordinate layout, trenching, pipe installation, backfill, and testing activities.
Ensure work complies with project plans, specifications, and local regulations.
Coordinate inspections with governing agencies and utility providers.
Enforce safety procedures related to trenching, shoring, and confined spaces.
Track daily production, materials, and crew activities.
Identify and resolve field issues related to existing utilities or site conditions.
Communicate progress, challenges, and needs to project management.

Skills & Experience Developed:

Leadership of utility installation crews.
Knowledge of underground utility systems and construction methods.
Safety compliance for trenching and utility work.
Coordination with inspectors, engineers, and project stakeholders.
Field problem-solving and schedule management.

Qualifications:

Extensive experience installing underground utilities (water, sewer, storm).
Previous supervisory or foreman experience preferred.
Strong understanding of utility plans, grades, and specifications.
Knowledge of trench safety, shoring systems, and OSHA requirements.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
