Heavy Equipment Supervisor

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position oversees daily heavy equipment operations on construction sites, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans. The Heavy Equipment Supervisor manages operators, coordinates equipment usage, and works closely with project management and field leadership to meet production goals.

Responsibilities:

Supervise and coordinate daily activities of heavy equipment operators.
Plan equipment usage to maximize productivity and minimize downtime.
Ensure safe operation of all equipment and enforce safety policies and procedures.
Conduct daily equipment inspections and coordinate maintenance or repairs.
Train and mentor equipment operators on proper techniques and best practices.
Coordinate with surveyors and project teams to ensure work aligns with site layouts and grades.
Monitor production rates and adjust operations to meet project schedules.
Maintain accurate production reports, equipment logs, and documentation.

Skills & Experience Developed:

Leadership and supervision of equipment crews.
Equipment utilization planning and production management.
Safety leadership and hazard mitigation.
Coordination between field operations and project management.
Problem-solving in active construction environments.

Qualifications:

Extensive experience operating heavy construction equipment.
Previous supervisory or lead operator experience preferred.
Strong understanding of earthwork, grading, and site development.
Familiarity with GPS machine control systems (Topcon preferred).
Ability to read and interpret construction plans and grades.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Agtek and Topcon software proficiency.
