Dirt / Earthwork Supervisor
JOB DESCRIPTION:
This position oversees earthwork and site preparation activities, including excavation, grading, and backfill operations. The Dirt/Earthwork Supervisor leads crews and equipment operators to ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with project plans and schedules.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise daily earthwork operations including excavation, grading, and backfill.
- Coordinate equipment, materials, and labor to meet production goals.
- Ensure grades, slopes, and elevations meet project requirements.
- Enforce safety policies and job site safety procedures.
- Coordinate with surveyors, equipment supervisors, and project management.
- Monitor production rates and adjust operations as needed.
- Identify and resolve field issues related to soil conditions and site constraints.
- Maintain daily reports, production logs, and documentation.
Skills & Experience Developed:
- Leadership of earthwork crews and equipment operations.
- Grade control and site layout coordination.
- Safety leadership and production management.
- Communication between field operations and project teams.
Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in earthwork and site development.
- Previous supervisory or foreman experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of grading, compaction, and soil conditions.
- Experience with GPS machine control systems preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Agtek and Topcon software proficiency.
